This station has a webcam and a customized Windows Media Player. Try windows media, but you'll go thru pop up hell to get there. Disco and 80's music, Queen rings in the new year. Really dumb countdown with 2001 theme (thank you HAL) then the chimes of Big Ben. Sometimes real audio works at this site and it's sister am oldies station. (Capital Radio and Capital Gold in London) Webcam only, real feeds maxed out. Now using windows media player. The blog will have updated information on some rare UK streams.

You may also want to check BBC, Radio 1 is the pop music station, this show gets underway an hour before midnight., and Radio 2 is the softer AC both have special New Year's Eve programming and try SKY for live TV or watch midnight strike at Big Ben. I went to Radio 2, which this year features Boy George starting 2200 UTC, where I was able to listen to Big Ben and a lot more, it rebuffered and I was down to a 10 k stream at the New Year. Radio 2 is the AC station. BBC radio 2 starts special programming at 8pm 2000 UTC. If you like good radio with no commercials check it out. Got to this stream early, it was great. Listened to hear the big bong at New Years and you were able to hear the BBC usher in the New Year. Avoid this one, it's really lousy.

Now to other parts of Europe and Africa. This is an Fm Station in Iceland This country used to have high powered Real Networks broadband servers, not any more. Windows Media is the streaming choice in Iceland.

An FM Station in Senegal Windows media player stream, this station has returned for 2004.The next station is mainly French but some English, Cameroon. Not sure if this station is streaming the news in English is about a week old. Africa No 1 is located in Gabon streaming in Real format and Windows Media at press time this station was off the internet.
Also on Africa's Gold Coast you can try, this station in Ghana has revamped it's website.. The Canary Islands are also in this time zone here are two station that are in English..

0100 UTC Here' s a webcast from Cape Verde in the Atlantic. Here's a station from the Azores that is webcasting with Windows Media. Cape Verde and the Azores were maxed out when I tried about an hour before to listen to them.

0200 UTC Midnight in Rio. and for you jingle collectors try this one. Helps if you know Portuguese.

0300 UTC New Years in Argentina. Further south from Montevideo, Uruguay or Santiago, Chile in Spanish, this station uses Windows Media now, but it sounds like a radio is used and it's not tuned in. Try here as a backup, also in Santiago and also using Windows Media. Paraguay's Radio Cardinal can be found here. Looks like three stream are possible from this encoding at press time was not working.

You can also try this talk station from the USVI and thanks to Norman Knight one of the great New England broadcasters this station is webcasting. Unfortunately all stations here are no longer webcasting due to the US copyright fees. Well not quite, Lucky 13 is streaming from St. Thomas.
New Brunswick Canada, this is an FM station in Sackville, its a college station. In Nova Scotia visit the Hawk. This is a windows media site and requires an abacast plug in.

The radio station in Grenada (server problems possible) they also carry BBC World Service programs, here's what this station sounded like in the 60s. Try this station from Caracas, Venezuela. New this year from St. Kitts ZIZ. Radio Montserrat. ZJB is on in Real Audio and this station runs BBC World Service Newscasts.

WABC New York with it's talk format, has Resumed Streaming. You can also check WCBS AM News Radio 800 and WOR 710 AM as well.

The garden state of New Jersey has this college station from Princeton University. Here's an oldies station in Hagerstown, Maryland north of Washington DC. Three stations in the US capital are currently webcast. This station known as the more music 104 whose format keeps changing kind of like you change socks daily. The other station is all news WTOP. A new top forty station is WIHT www.hot995.com, it's in Washington DC, (the studios are located in nearby Rockville, Maryland the site requires registration to listen to the stream). Live fireworks from Wolfeboro, New Hamsphire.Panama in Spanish. New for this year from Montreal News Talk Radio 800 CJAD. From south of Boston the station that's at the dump WATD, in Marshfield. one of the last locally owned stations in the Boston area. From Vermont new this year is Onion River Radio, it uses a downloadable plug in for Windows Media player.

0600 UTC This is the Central Time Zone in the US. WLS Chicago Streaming right now. If your a Rush Limbaugh Fan his show is streamed live from 1700-2000 UTC.

The Groupo Central Network Mexico City, Mexico in Spanish, streaming is under construction at all stations. Sad, but the only streaming station in this Canadian province is the CBC, in English from Regina, Saskatchewan. You may also try this new station streaming mp3.

Tired both of these stations, could here Canada but nothing special going on. KSL's stream was off the air.

http://www.rock101.com/ Vancouver, British Columbia., Canada. New for this year is BKradio from British Columbia. Kiss FM, a music station in Los Angeles, its also using Windows Media Nine. Further north try the KGO in San Francisco. KXAM in Phoenix and it's news talk. Here's a webcam on the strip in Las Vegas. Watching fireworks on this webcam was amazing. Watching this live webcam was a hoot as you could see the local TV anchors doing their live broadcast of the Fireworks over Vegas.

Anchorage, Alaska, they are streaming some content check out the webcams. station A public radio station has two streams, one of these is in native languages. Both of these were ok on New Years Morning on the US East Coast. KSKA, another public radio station, new this year.

The webcast from Kong on Kaui is gone. (AC) Live countdown, great stereo in 02 but alas it won't be here in 03.New this year is this FM station in Honolulu. From Kauai this year try this FM station. The two fm stations that are streaming require registration before the stream is allowed to flow your way. And it appears these stations aren't streaming.

Tahiti has several stations to choose from including Radio 1.There is also a live webcam of the harbor.

This station is not webcasting but it's worth a look at the Cook Islands. These sites all worked well.

American Samoa has this station in mp3 format. The last place to ring in the New Year.

Try: broadcast-live. COM/television/ for more live TV from around the globe. Cable modem and at work users should try the broadband content.

Live from the Space Needle in Seattle.(0700 aprox) Real Broadcast Network and a local Seattle TV station webcast this event. This may not occur this year, but check the website for more information. The live webcam at the Space Needle did the trick to see the fireworks display.

A lot has changed and most of the sites we have listed in previous editions have vanished. Try here. This site features a cam search. Here's a group of interesting cameras. If you're really bored and have the time to look at webcams try around the world in 80 clicks. Webcams in 80 places starting in NYC and ending in NYC. A new addition this year this is not only a webcam search tool it also highlights webcams by region of the globe.
Peoples Webcams:

Some of us who are broadcasters have to work New Years Eve and Day. For example: Jim Cutler. Check the site for demos of his work, perhaps you will see him live doing a session.

Most New Years Eve broadcasts have a song that everyone seems to pick. This year I did not find any set piece of music that was used.

Traffic was about the same as in previous years, however with the New Year coming in midweek less daytime traffic. The blog took most of the hits during the day.

People have picked up on doing webcams on New Years Eve, most major cams were swamped.

This year I did not add any new features to this site. I hope I cleaned up the dead links. For what I am hearing get an rss reader and subscribe to my blog. Real time on the blog til around 0100 UTC.
